Shannon’s background is in business and communications. She has an extensive business background in large for-profit companies such as UPS, United Airlines, and Target with competencies in profit-loss management, budgeting, accounts payable/receivables, merchandising, call center and general business operations, and business expansion and performance measurement. She has a strong understanding of customer relations and customer service and what drives client needs.
One of her passions is developing and implementing peer training programs and other trainings with the purpose of developing new leaders. She is an effective program evaluator who understands how to conduct routine analysis on program processes, analyze outcome data, and interpret findings with a proven track record of building, nurturing, and maintaining various partnership and collaborations with a variety of organizations, businesses, and state agencies.
Being a single parent with two exceptional students, she was forced to learn and navigate school systems on her own. She faced barrier after barrier, being told she didn’t understand student finance, per pupil spending, or legislation pertaining to students, education or funding mechanisms. She returned to school in 2015 and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business & Corporate Communications, and again in 2021 earning her Master of Public Administration.
Over the past 20 years she has worked extensively with many of the Colorado State agencies such as HCPF, DOLA, DORA, CDPHE, CDHS, BHA, BSOS, RAEs, CMAs, the DD Council and many, many more organizations developing, refining, changing and building systems of (long term) care for individuals with disabilities.
She has a passion for helping kids, students, families, and minimizing the struggles they face- as she did-in understanding health, policy, education, disability, and the monumental systems we are forced to traverse.
